Gerstell students succeed in Poetry Out Loud Competition
After winning the school competition, Imari and Elaine joined students from three different counties in the Western Maryland region to put on an impressive performance featuring a wide range of authors including Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, and Margaret Atwood. Facing very talented competition, Elaine Casey placed second and Imari Owens placed third. Both Elaine and Imari will advance to compete in the state competition on March 16th at the Baltimore Museum of Art. We are incredibly proud of their efforts, and we wish them good luck at states!

Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation competition and facilitates opportunities for students in high school to celebrate the spoken word and demonstrate their public speaking skills.
