Athletics

At Gerstell Academy, athletics are more than just competition—they are a cornerstone of our mission to cultivate leadership, honor, and courage. With competitive opportunities for Middle and Upper School students, our athletic programs inspire personal growth, foster teamwork, and build resilience. Competing in the MIAA (MD Interscholastic Athletic Association) and IAAM (Interscholastic Athletic Association of MD), we proudly offer a diverse range of sports, including soccer, cross country, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, lacrosse, and baseball. With dedicated coaching staff and a focus on character development, our students develop leadership skills and achieve shared goals, excelling both in the field and in life.

College Athletes
In recent years, 25% of our student body has taken their athletic talents to the collegiate level, excelling in their respective sports.

Championships
Winning Tradition: Since joining the MIAA in 2011, our boys athletic programs have captured 10 championships, while our girls programs have proudly secured 5 championships in the IAAM since joining in 2017.

Team Pages
With 11 sports programs available throughout the year, we provide opportunities for upper and middle school athletes to start competing as early as 5th grade.
