Ajaya Hobart ’23 continues to follow his passion of managing basketball on the collegiate level.
Ajaya Hobart ‘23 headed south to High Point University(HPU) just a few months ago to start his college career. Ajaya wasted no time to take action and get involved. Ajaya became a team manager for the Division 1 High Point Women’s Basketball team shortly after arriving to campus. While Ajaya was at Gerstell he led in the roles of Athletic Head Manager and Gerstell Women’s Basketball Director of Operations. Ajaya has taken the skills and experiences from his years in these leadership roles at Gerstell to help him approach this new role at High Point. Ajaya was also asked to not only be a team manger but was also asked to be one of two mangers to travel with the team to several conference away games. We are excited to see what Ajaya and the HPU Women’s basketball team does this season and wish them the best of luck. HPU women’s basketball was ranked #1 in the preseason rankings for the Big South Conference entering this season. HPU has high hopes of winning a conference championship after coming up short last year in the conference championship.
Ajaya says, “After graduating from Gerstell I didn’t know how I was going to fill my time at High Point that I spent on athletics at Gerstell. Then I met Jordan, Brendan, and Elise during a manager’s meeting and knew I had found the perfect place to grow in the sport world and as a leader. I love this team, the energy, kindness, and passion in all the girls is what I love the most.” “I can’t thank Mr. Gilotte, Coach Stem, Mrs. Proescher, and Mrs. Hand enough for their support and encouragement through high school with my involvement in athletics and their continued support of my athletic endeavors here at HPU. Go Falcons!!”
Ajaya is still undecided on a major but is looking to incorporate Sports Management as a major or minor. Best of luck to Ajaya as he continues to pursue his passion of sports management, along with his academic endeavors.
