Students' Joy Shines Through Masks by Participating in Falcon Outreach Program

Upper School students, under the leadership and guidance of Ms. Angela Sugg, Upper School History Teacher, student President Courtney Ricker, and Vice President Faith Bissen, have been approaching community service with passion, conviction and persistence. Students have participated in various community service projects. Rylie Bruffey, liaison to the freshman class, and Gabby Baranovksy, liaison to the sophomore class, serve as upperclassmen leaders. Ajaya Curtis and Sydnee Smith, our publicity team, have helped to promote and document the work of our students.  The Falcon Outreach Representatives for each advisory have also contributed both their time and talents.

In early October, freshmen and sophomores participated in a kitchen utensil bundling project. Students sorted and organized thousands of knives, forks and spoons, and grouped them in family sets of eight. These utensils are being distributed to families transitioning out of homeless shelters in both Carroll and Howard County. As a part of our school supply drive, students donated backpacks, notebooks, pens, glue sticks, binders and a wide variety of other school essentials. These supplies were donated to the children living in the Westminster homeless shelter. Students are currently collecting non-perishable food and money for our canned food drive through December 17. The money will be used to purchase fresh food for the families and individuals staying at various homeless shelters in Carroll County. These community service opportunities have afforded students the opportunity to do the right thing and take action to help those in need.
