On Thursday, April 16, members of the Geo Bee Club participated in a spirited competition in the Carolyn B. Smith Library. Sponsored by Lower School faculty members Mrs. Patty Lutton and Ms. Tina Culbertson, the Geo Bee Club consists of volunteer students from the third and fourth grades and meets every other week throughout the school year with the goal of building a broad base of global knowledge, encouraging critical thinking, and helping students reach their full potential.
Moderated by Mrs. Wilson, Head of Lower School, the Geography Bee consisted of two competitive rounds, with a tie‑breaker round planned if needed. Students were challenged with questions covering a wide range of topics, including Maryland state facts, state capitals, key geographic terms, locations of states, countries, continents, and oceans, flags and capitals from around the world, and U.S. government buildings, statues, and memorials.
All teams were well prepared, and the competition was intense from start to finish. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication. A special congratulations to our first‑place winners, third-grade students: Sethlie S, Evelyn F, Hayden D, and Jaxon W.
Every student who participated in the Geo Bee demonstrated Attribute P: Perseverance and embodiedPrinciple #6, Approach every endeavor with passion, conviction, and persistence. The dedication and teamwork displayed by all participants made this year’s Geo Bee a great success.
