Upper School

Welcome to Gerstell Academy's Upper School. Our program is designed to provide every student with a challenging academic course of study and the leadership skills necessary to have a positive impact and compete in an ever-changing world.
The Gerstell Motto, Leadership Principles and Attributes are integrated into our rigorous interdisciplinary college preparatory curriculum forming the foundation for our non-sectarian system of values.

Through this approach, students acquire essential leadership skills, cultivate a lifelong commitment to health and fitness, and achieve proficiency in the Spanish language. Core components of every class include interview skills, conflict resolution strategies, public speaking, and student mentoring. In addition, each academic year features a dedicated focus on a distinct aspect of leadership education ensuring targeted instruction and measurable skill development.

Academic Program

Our students learn how to take risks, persevere, lead and succeed in academics, athletics, the arts and life.

With an average class size of just 15, our interactive and inspiring learning environment encourages curiosity and collaboration. Students develop critical thinking skills, learn to form and defend diverse viewpoints, and engage in meaningful dialogue with teachers and peers. Students explore a challenging curriculum preparing them for college and beyond. As students' progress through upper school, they are invited to ask and answer questions that intrigue and inspire them, whether through a research paper, a senior internship, travel abroad, or leading one of our many student led clubs.

The Upper School Course Guide offers an overview of core and elective courses reflecting Gerstell's distinctive leadership focus and commitment to college preparatory excellence.

Advanced Placement (AP) classes offer students the opportunity to excel in areas that interest them.

Through our unique dual enrollment program, students may earn college credits as they master the balance between high school commitments and college level expectations.
