Lower School
Welcome to Gerstell Academy's Lower School. We believe in educational excellence grounded in strong foundations of reading, writing and mathematics. Through a content-rich curriculum, together with our values based Leadership and interdisciplinary programs, we prepare your child for future achievement.
The Four Pillars of a Gerstell Academy Education include:
College Preparatory Academics:
In Lower School (Pre K- through Grade 4), students receive a well-rounded, cross-curricular education in a structured and nurturing environment through the study of:
Literature and Literacy
History and Geography
Mathematics
Science and Technology
Spanish Language
Art & Music
Physical Education
Leadership:
Our values-based Leadership Model is integrated into all academic and social areas of Lower School, shaping our everyday interactions and discussions. Our students learn respect, responsibility, kindness, and the importance of community service.
Leadership Circles provide students with opportunities to practice public speaking, share their knowledge, learn the Gerstell Academy Motto, Leadership Principles and Attributes, and explore the lives of our Portrait Leaders.
Physical Training:
Includes daily recess as well as physical education; students enjoy both unstructured and structured play.
Students learn the importance of teamwork, resilience and lifelong fitness.
Students learn the basics of competitive sports.
Modern Language Proficiency:
Through engaging, age appropriate instruction, students develop the building blocks of the Spanish language including:
Vocabulary and phrases
Listening, speaking, and writing skills
Through our small class sizes and unique Falcon Friends mentoring program, (a partnership of younger and older students), our students know they are valued members of our community.
Gerstell Academy's Lower School prepares students with the knowledge, values and confidence to become thoughtful leaders and compassionate citizens- ready to make a meaningful difference in their communities.
