Under the direction of Mrs. Jenna Daly, Chair of the Performing Arts Department, the Lower School proudly presented Gerstell Goes Hollywood, a vibrant celebration of cinema and the timeless music that defined it. Fourth-grade students took on the role of red-carpet reporters, interviewing “movie stars” who introduced each grade’s featured song. Performances included memorable hits such as Let’s Go to the Movies, Moon River, and I’m a Believer.
As tradition holds, the concert concluded with a heartfelt rendition of One Candle, One Flame, composed by Linda Sobo, accompanied by third-grade students on chimes.
Adding to the excitement, this year’s event showcased the second annual Art Show, perfectly complementing the Hollywood theme. Students expressed their creativity through 2D self-portraits, reinforcing the idea that every child is a star at Gerstell Academy. Pre-K students created “This Is What I See” portraits, while fourth graders explored fiber art inspired by renowned Mexican artist Victoria Villasana.
The event was a wonderful celebration of our Lower School students’ creativity and the supportive Gerstell community that encourages them to shine.
