Building the Foundations of Leadership: Pre-K and Kindergarten Honor Veterans Through Leadership Circle

Gerstell Academy’s youngest students began their day with hearts full of gratitude and respect as they reflected on the commitment and sacrifice of those who have demonstrated Leadership, Honor, and Courage by serving in our nation’s military.

As part of this special observance, our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students gathered for a meaningful Leadership Circle—a signature experience that helps our youngest Falcons learn what it means to live out Gerstell’s Leadership Principles from an early age.

This week’s Leadership Circle was led by Mrs. Myers, a proud mother of Pre-K student Raquela and a dedicated member of the Maryland State Police. Drawing from her own military background, Mrs. Myers shared how the lessons she learned while serving—discipline, teamwork, and perseverance—have shaped her journey and continue to guide her in her current career.

Through stories and conversation, Mrs. Myers encouraged our students to recognize that leadership begins with small acts of courage and kindness. Her message helped connect classroom lessons to real-world examples, reminding students that each of them has the power to lead by example, even at a young age.
We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Myers for sharing her experience and for inspiring our youngest leaders to embody the values that define the Gerstell community.
