The Gerstell Academy community came together to celebrate the musical achievements of our talented students during this year’s annual spring concert series. Held over two evenings, Wednesday, May 7th, and Thursday, May 8th, the concerts showcased the skills and dedication of our middle and upper school ensembles including strings, chorus and band. Conducted by Instrumental Music Teacher, Mr. Tyler Rieth, the 5th and 6th grade strings ensemble opened with dynamic renditions of Impulse, Zenith, and Percentage of Error followed by the 7th and 8th ensemble. Selections included Legends of Glory, and Humble Heart, among others. The upper school strings ensemble included Firestorm, Zephyrus, and American Landscape, among others.
Vocal performances, led by Performing Arts Department Chair, Ms. Jenna Daly, the middle school chorus performed selections including Rockin’ Robin, What A Wonderful World, and It’s the Hard Knock Life. The upper school chorus presented several selections including Ave Verum Corpus, Wannabe, and Shine, Little Light among others. The combined choirs presented Believer by Imagine Dragons, featuring several student soloists.
The concert continued with band presentations from the 5th and 6th grade band and the 7th and 8th grade band. Selections included Star Wars, Relics of the Past, and Air from County Derry. The upper school band performance included the selections Fanfare for a New Era, and Appalachian Air. This year marked the debut of the Upper School Orchestra who performed American Fiddle Triptych, Pirates of the Caribbean and Warriors Legacy.
Both evenings concluded with a heartfelt tribute to our graduating seniors whose contributions have left a lasting legacy at Gerstell Academy.
