Junior Ring Ceremony: Time Honored Tradition!

On Friday, May 3rd, the Junior Class gathered in The Alumni House on the campus of Gerstell Academy with fellow students, faculty, staff, and family members to celebrate the Junior Ring Ceremony which signifies the “passing of the torch” from the graduating seniors to the junior class.

The event included opening comments from President, Mr. John Polasko, and Head of Upper School, Mr. Brian Abbott. The Invocation was delivered by Landon Yetta, the Class of 2025 Vice President, and the closing comments by Class of 2025 President, Jordan Blackburn.
Mr. Abbott explained the history and tradition behind the ceremony, which began at United States Military Academy (West Point) in 1835. In order to visually display the unity among the group, someone decided that everyone in the class should wear a ring with a similar design. The students were the first ones to wear a class ring.
Gerstell students also received an engraved brick with their name and graduation year to be placed on the campus of Gerstell Academy.
