Jillian Wilson ‘18 becomes Gerstell Academy’s first NCAA Division 1 First Team All-American.
Jillian Wilson, a 2018 graduate of Gerstell Academy and a recent graduate of Loyola University Maryland, has set the standard for success. Jillian is a true testament to the Gerstell Principle #7 Work to Reach your full potential. Jillian’s Loyola coach Jen Adams, recalls, Jillian stating as a freshman that she wanted to become an All-American. Her leadership skills obtained at Gerstell, and setting SMART goals throughout her educational career here, did not disappear when she left for college. Today, we celebrate the fact that for the 2022 lacrosse season, Jillian was named to the second team All-American, and now in 2023 she holds the title of All-American, as she recently was named to the first team selection by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Well done, Jillian! But the accolades do not stop there, as a 5th-year player for Loyola’s Greyhounds, Jillian helped secure their fourth consecutive Patriot League Championship, and was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Year (two years in a row)! Never settling for just one goal, Jillian also holds the Patriot League record for most draw controls. Heading into the NCAA tournament Wilson has tallied 431 draw controls, 175 goals and 56 assists in her career. In an article published earlier this year by PRESSBOX online, Jillian’s coach Jen Adams stated, “When Jillian sets her mind on something, I can guarantee she’s going to accomplish it.”
During her years at Gerstell, Jillian was a three-sport athlete, for all four years in Upper School, earning her the Golden Falcon Award. Jillian’s maintained a strong work ethic and positive attitude throughout her years at Gerstell and was always setting the example for her teammates. Jillian has a positive attitude, and her high energy is contagious. At Gerstell, she was a member of the Northern Maryland Soccer League (NMSL) Championship Team, as well as a member of the Capital Area Lacrosse League (CALL) Championship team.
Jillian’s lacrosse career is far from over. She is currently competing in the NCAA tournament as the #8 seed and hoping to make a semifinal or better appearance with the Loyola Greyhounds. Her future looks bright, as she was recently drafted as the #6 pick and invited to participate in the third season of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse, set to begin on July 20 at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
Jillian has always expressed appreciation to her parents, family, and the Gerstell Community for supporting her throughout her athletic and academic careers. Jillian will be moving to Dallas, Texas in August to begin her career in Commercial Real Estate.
Well done Jillian! You are a true testament to the perseverance and determination of a Gerstell Falcon. We are very proud of your accomplishments and look forward to hearing of more success in the not too distant future!
