Meteorologist, Jonathan Myers visits third grade science!
Mrs. Snider’s third-grade science students welcomed him to their classroom as they discussed many weather-related topics. The students led the presentation with a myriad of questions for Mr. Myers, including, “Do you ever get nervous in front of the camera,” and “Have you ever been in a weather-related disaster,” and “Do you wear makeup?” After answering the student’s questions, Mr. Myers discussed what it means to be a meteorologist and what “a day in the life” of a meteorologist entails. The presentation included a discussion on how he builds weather forecasts and the importance of connecting the forecasts to the needs of the viewers. Mr. Myers finished the presentation with two experiments: creating a tornado tube and making a cloud in a bottle. After being shown the experiment, the students were able to perform each experiment on their own.
