Marcell Luckie ’21 was recently recognized in a Court of Honor for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Marcell is one of four young men recognized by Troop 706 on August 14, 2022, for reaching this momentous milestone. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the BSA and is only attained by 4% of all scouters. Marcell completed his Eagle Scout leadership project at the Baltimore Humane Society. Following in his two older brothers’ footsteps, who are also Eagle Scouts, Marcell approached the Baltimore Humane Society for a need, that he could fulfill. Working during the time of Covid-19 when visitors were not allowed in the buildings of the Baltimore Humane Society, Marcell built benches, that are still in use today, where prospective families could sit and visit with the dogs they were looking to adopt.
Marcell has been involved in the scouting program for 14 years, since he was in pre-k. He has been to the high adventure camps of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Sea Base Scout Camp in the Florida Keys. He served as a crew leader for his trek in Philmont. Throughout his years in scouting Marcell has held multiple leadership positions such as Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. Marcell has completed over 500 hours of community service in the past years in scouting.
Marcell’s future plans are to become a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force and become a pilot. He is currently in his second year of college.
