Gerstell's Middle School History teacher, Alan Gibson, has quite a diverse educational and career background. He attended Florida State University in the mid-1990s and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. After graduating, he began working in sales with various corporations before pursuing a career which he truly had a passion - history.
Mr. Gibson attended University of Maryland Baltimore County, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in history. "My particular focus during graduate school was architectural history and historic preservation," he said. He spent the next two years with FEMA and a historic restoration company preserving and restoring historic homes and structures. "If you’ve been in downtown Baltimore, especially around the courthouse, you may have noticed some of our work."
Mr. Gibson taught for a short while in the Baltimore City School system before joining the Gerstell Academy community. "I was fortunate enough to be chosen to fill the role," he said. "I feel very excited to work here and teach our students. To date, this has been a great experience and I expect much the same going forward!"
