Gerstell is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Claire Adkinson as our Athletic Trainer. Ms. Adkinson will work alongside our coaches and Athletics department to keep our student athletes safe, healthy, and performing to their best abilities. The role of Athletic Trainer includes injury examination and prevention, immediate and emergency care, and therapeutic intervention of all athletic injuries. Alongside her athletic training duties, Ms. Adkinson will assisting Mrs. Cannaday and Mr. Celenza with Pre-k and first grade Physical Education.
Ms. Adkinson received her undergraduate degree at Towson University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. During her time at Towson, Ms. Adkinson worked within a variety of NCAA Division I sports, including Towson Men’s lacrosse and football, and Loyola University Men’s and Women’s lacrosse. Upon graduation, Claire moved to Newberry, South Carolina, to work as an Athletic Trainer at Newberry College, a school which competes in the NCAA Division III. During her time at Newberry, she monitored the student athletes on the football, Women’s soccer, and Men’s lacrosse teams. Ms. Adkinson is also actively pursuing her Master’s of Science in Health Education from East Stroudsburg University.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching former athletes continue their careers after working with them! She also remains close with her Towson Athletic Training professors and mentors athletic training students as they graduate and choose their next career step.
