Lady Falcons Soccer Earns a Hard-Fought Win and a Gritty Draw
Gerstell Academy traveled to Mercersburg Academy on Friday, September 12th, and came away with a thrilling 2–1 victory. After a scoreless first half, Savannah Devers broke the deadlock with a goal
assisted by Piper Gallagher. Mercersburg responded with a free-kick equalizer, but the Falcons pressed on. Eden Walker netted the go-ahead goal unassisted, sealing the win. Cadence Poklemba anchored the defense with a commanding presence, while Cambrie Franks made two crucial saves to preserve the lead. The team’s unity and determination were key to clinching the road win.
In a tightly contested matchup on Monday evening, Gerstell Academy and Hereford High School ended in a 1–1 draw after regulation and two overtime periods. Hereford struck first, taking a 1–0 lead into halftime. The Falcons responded in the second half with a goal by Eden Walker, assisted by Ella Creighton. Despite aggressive play and two 10-minute overtime periods, neither team could break the deadlock. Gerstell’s goalkeeper, Cambrie Franks, delivered a standout performance with 10 saves to keep her team in the game. It was a hard-fought match that showcased the Falcons’ resilience and teamwork.
