Gerstell Academy Middle School Hosts Annual Spelling Bee
On Wednesday, April 16, the Gerstell Academy Middle School held its much-anticipated Annual Spelling Bee, bringing together top student spellers from Grades 5 through 8. Leading up to this school-wide event, each grade conducted individual competitions to determine their top three representatives.
The finalists were:
Grade 5: William D., Brayden H., and Jackson S.
Grade 6: Cassie C., Christopher W., and Nathan L.
Grade 7: Lily B., Sean M., and Maddox K.
Grade 8: Lucas G., Sam J., and Austin J.
These twelve outstanding students showcased remarkable courage and composure as they stood before an audience of parents, classmates, and faculty to compete. The event highlighted the dedication students have shown in mastering spelling, vocabulary, and reading skills across the curriculum. Each round grew more intense as finalists from each grade competed with focus and determination. Grades 5 and 7 featured particularly close matchups, with two finalists going head-to-head in dramatic final rounds. In the end, one student from each grade emerged victorious:
Jackson S. (Grade 5), Nathan L. (Grade 6), Maddox K. (Grade 7), and Austin J. (Grade 8).
With one winner per grade, the competition advanced into the exciting mystery word round, where finalists faced off using complex and unfamiliar vocabulary. After five challenging rounds, fifth grader Jackson S. was named the overall winner of the 2025 Middle School Spelling Bee!
Congratulations to all our participants for their impressive achievements. Each student approached the competition with passion, conviction, and perseverance, exemplifying the leadership values that are the foundation of a Gerstell education.
