Gerstell Students Explore History, Culture, and Learning in Italy and Greece
In Greece, students had many opportunities to learn about the region. They explored Greek Islands, such as Hydra; visited the ancient Acropolis of Athens which provided a remarkable opportunity to study ancient history in the very places where it unfolded. They wandered through the religious center of Delphi; and trekked to the mountains of Meteora, including a visit to a hilltop monastery that was built in 1517.
In Italy, students explored Florence, the historic heart of the Italian Renaissance; visited St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican; and went inside the Roman Colosseum, one of the seven modern wonders of the world. They sampled authentic Italian cuisine, engaged with local communities, and discovered the traditions that continue to define Italian life today.
These experiences helped students broaden their global perspective while creating lasting memories with classmates.
Thanks to the leadership of Dr. David Greenspoon, participants enjoyed a journey that was both educational and inspiring, creating memories that will last a lifetime. In June of 2028, Dr. Greenspoon and Dra. Greppi will be leading a trip to Peru, including a visit to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu and the Amazon Rainforest.
Learning Beyond the Classroom: Gerstell Academy Upper School students traveled through Italy and Greece this summer, immersing themselves in the history, art, and culture of two remarkable countries. Visits to historic landmarks, including the Colosseum, provided unforgettable opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
