Gerstell Academy is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Long-Term Subsitute Teacher for Middle School Mathematics & Science. This candidate will ideally have experience in developing and implementing purposeful instruction in mathematics and science. Potential courses include 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science, Math 5, Math 6, Math 7, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. Gerstell Academy teachers are committed to helping students achieve success in the mission and values of Gerstell Academy in conjunction with subject area content. The position reports to the Head of Middle School.
 
Start date: August 11, 2025
End Date: December 1, 2025
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in the field of education with a concentration in mathematics and/or science
  • Ability to analyze student development and appropriately adjust curriculum to meet student needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate passionately, clearly and concisely in writing and orally
  • Maintains a positive relationship with parents to create a nurturing and mentoring environment for children
  • Must possess exceptional organizational abilities: perform multiple projects, prioritize and provide attention to detail and respect deadlines
  • Must demonstrate awareness of sensitive issues and ability to exercise good judgment in relating to families, students, and faculty/staff
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan, prepare and/or deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning of all students.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use data to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Meet with students, families, and colleagues to provide information on student progress and needs.
  • Attend events specific to the grade level.
  • Perform additional daily duties that may or may not directly relate to the instruction of subject areas, such as lunch and study hall duty
