The Wilson Room was transformed into a medieval banquet hall, complete with hanging coats of arms and an elaborate banquet table earlier this week.

Lower School students are generous with their time and talents while spreading holiday cheer to the residents of Golden Crest Assisted Living Centers in Westminster.

Gerstell students establish WAY Foundation with their family and select Gerstell Academy as the recipient of their first donation. The goal of the WAY foundation states, “to let thoughtful passion lead the WAY as we face today’s problems and create tomorrow’s solutions.”

Eesha Gupta, a ninth grader, is one of twenty winners in the 32nd Annual "Champions of Courage" Black History Month Essay Competition. "Champions of Courage" is designed to commemorate Black History Month by celebrating positive role models for youth.

Evan Paterakis, Class of 2016, has taken a break from studying business at High Point University after teaching himself film-making.

Four Gerstell eleventh grade students won the Intellectual Freedom Challenge, a contest run through the National English Honor Society (NEHS).

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. Hedrick graduated from Calvin College. During her junior year, she spent "an incredible semester abroad" in Denia, Spain; studying its language and culture. "Spain is where I gained my fluency in Spanish, fell in love with traveling, and was able to meet people from other cultures," she said.

Gerstell Academy Middle School participated in a Math-a-thon for two weeks in November to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Students completed math problems to sharpen their math skills while raising money to benefit critically ill children and pediatric research...

Gerstell has received a warm thanks from the Cold Weather Shelter in Carroll County after our Upper School Falcon Outreach members hosted a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit them. After Founder's Day and its accompanied Thanksgiving assembly on November 20, students and faculty participated in a race to "Stuff the Bus" with donated food from home. 

Mrs. Jo Anna Edwards joined Gerstell Academy in 2007 as a fifth-grade teacher yet found her true calling as a third-grade classroom leader. During her 11 years at Gerstell, she has enjoyed sharing her time and talents by serving as Lower School liaison for the Language Arts department and volunteering with during- and after-school groups.

Congratulations to Gabby Manning, a senior, who has been selected for the 2018 IAAM "A" Conference All Conference Soccer Team. Gabby has made Gerstell history by being the first "A" Conference All Conference team member.

Brett attended the University of Kentucky to study economics. He joined the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and upon his graduation in December will be commissioned into the United States Army Reserves as a Transportation Officer. This is an excerpt from his speech he delivered during the 2018 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony.

Congratulations to Kate Maerten, Class of 2021, who placed first in Gerstell's 5th Annual Poetry Out Loud competition. In second place, just three points below Kate, is Caleb Frey, Class of 2020. We congratulate the participating students for their demonstration of passion, conviction, and persistence. They showed great courage reciting their poetry.

Terri Rinehart brings creativity and enthusiasm to the classroom as she floats about the Gerstell campus. In her second year, Mrs. Rinehart has accepted additional teaching responsibilities, including 6^th grade U.S. History, Upper School World History 100, Leadership 100, and Leadership in Film. She is also a ninth grade advisor.

Two Gerstell Academy alumni are competing in college basketball this season: Kymiah Carpenter '18 plays for Juniata College and Colin Rimel '18 plays for York College. Gerstell is proud of Kymiah and Colin and wishes them the best of luck this season!

The skills and talent of Jessica Silverman, a junior, were recognized as she won first place in the Holiday Card Contest.

Gerstell student-leaders and coaches recently attended a student-athlete conference entitled Powered by ME!

Mr. Tony Sumo, a veteran member of Gerstell Academy's Facilities Department, shares his story on the power of perseverance. Mr. Sumo's journey started in a small villiage of Liberia and now he serves as a well regarded member of our community.

Antonio Saltaformaggio celebrates his fourth year at Gerstell Academy where he has taught 6th grade U.S. History, Upper School World I & II History, and American Government. He was the Boys' Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach in fall 2015 and since 2016, has served as the Middle School Girls' Red Soccer Head Coach.

Gerstell Academy’s LEGO League Jr. and LEGO League teams are enjoying this season’s themes, MISSION MOON and INTO ORBIT.

Mrs. Katie Menges, Library Media Specialist, has invited author Stuart Gibbs to visit Gerstell Academy on Tuesday, October 2. 

Emma Leonard, Class of 2022, earned a two-week summer internship in the Communications Department with Capitol Technology University.

David Warburton, a graduate of Gerstell Academy’s first graduating class in 2012, played for the D.C. United U18 Academy soccer team during high school. His desire to earn a Division I soccer scholarship led him to Loyola University where he studied Economics.

After local win, Kate Maerten to represent Gerstell in the Maryland State Poetry Out Loud competition.
