Gerstell Academy Commemorates Patriot Day

Gerstell Academy students, faculty and staff gathered on September 11 to commemorate Patriot Day and honor the lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The school community observed a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. making the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Wearing their special dress uniforms, lower school students and faculty participated in a Leadership Circle designed to share age-appropriate information on this day in our nation’s history.

Middle and Upper School students attended a leadership assembly focused on the events of the day presented by Gerstell Academy’s Current Events Club. The student led presentation discussed the events and reflected on the lasting impact of our country’s identity. This year’s observance marks the 25th anniversary of the event of 9/11, and serves as a reminder of the leadership, honor and courage of the victims and first responders.
