On Monday, May 18th, members of the Gerstell Academy community gathered at the Alumni House to celebrate the academic accomplishments and leadership of the Upper School students.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Mr. John Polasko, President of Gerstell Academy whose remarks set an inspiring and reflective tone for the event.
Mr. Brian Abbott, Head of the Upper School, reflected on the shared traits of award recipients; many of whom completed the Dr. Smith Founder’s Leadership Challenge. He challenged all students to think critically, uplift others, and embody Gerstell’s Leadership Principles and Attributes.
Faculty members then took to the stage to present academic awards in various disciplines:

A meaningful moment of the morning was the official passing of the gavel in the Gerstell Academy Student Government Association. Outgoing President Kyle Rudich formally handed leadership responsibilities to newly elected President Alivia Nyerges.
The ceremony concluded on a note of pride and optimism, as the Gerstell community honored its students' achievements and looked ahead to a future of continued growth and leadership.
Ms. Lindsey Proescher, Assistant Head of the Upper School, closed the ceremony, and acknowledged the collective efforts of the students, faculty, and parents for another wonderful year, and senior Charlie Crawford led the singing of the Gerstell Alma Mater.
Gerstell Academy celebrated academic excellence earlier this week during its Upper School Academic Awards ceremony, recognizing student achievement and dedication in Carroll County.
