Middle School Students Raise over $3,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Carey Wargo
Gerstell Academy Middle School participated in a Math-a-thon for two weeks in November to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Students completed math problems to sharpen their math skills while raising money to benefit critically ill children and pediatric research.

In keeping with Gerstell Academy’s Leadership Attributes, our students took ACTION with the goal of providing HOPE to children and families this holiday season.

The Middle School raised a grand total of $3,291.00 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!

Our top fundraiser, Charles, seventh grade student, raised the most money individually with a total of $510.00.

Charles had the honor of throwing a pie in the face of Mr. Thompson, Assistant Head of the Middle School, at a middle school leadership assembly.

Two sixth graders, Samantha and Sydney came in second, raising $275 each for St. Jude, and honorable mention went to sixth grader, Katia, for raising $261.00 and eighth grader, Harnoor, who raised $250.

Our sixth grade students really approached this fundraising endeavor with passion, conviction and persistence raising $1,666.00. They will celebrate their achievements  in advisory with a donut and hot chocolate party. Our seventh grade raised $925.00 and eighth grade students raised $700.00.

We are proud of our middle school students for positively influencing others to unite in a common direction and guiding them to improve themselves and their community.
