Upper School Students Learn Proper Techniques in Sports Medicine Class

Ms. Adkinson's Sports Medicine class is designed to introduce students to the exciting world of sports medicine. Students explore topics like the sports medicine team, emergency care, taping techniques, and the principles of training for athletic performance. The class focuses on the prevention, identification, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Upper School students were resourceful in practicing proper wound care techniques in a recent class. Tomatoes and oranges were used to mimic the patient's skin, glitter represented the debris that could be found in a wound, and shaving cream covered the student's glove as a representation of a hazardous substance. Students were then challenged to take action and remove their contaminated gloves using their universal precaution skills.
