Destined to be a Teacher

Third grade Class Leader, Ms. Tina Culbertson knew that she wanted to become a teacher when she entered the second grade. Since then, her passion for guiding and instructing young people has only grown. She graduated from Lee University, in Cleveland, Tennessee in 2006 with her Bachelors in Education. Ms. Culbertson taught for 5 years in first and third grades until she made the decision to stay home to be with and raise her newborn baby. Ms. Culbertson now has 2 children, Tyler, 10, and Zoe, 7. When her children were both in school themselves, Ms. Culbertson was ready to make her return to the classroom. She is now in her second year of teaching third grade at Gerstell Academy and couldn’t be happier to be a part of our Falcon community.

Ms. Culbertson is inspired by the leadership that her third graders are already showing at such a young age. Being an example, attribute E, is very important to her as she knows little eyes are constantly watching her throughout the day. Ms. Culbertson’s favorite Principle is #3 which states, “Treat others as you want to be treated.” She believes this is a standard that the world should learn to apply.

When Ms. Culbertson is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her son play sports, and her daughter participate in gymnastics. Together, they enjoy playing games, watching movies, and family competitions. Ms. Culbertson also enjoys dancing and baking. She even started her own hobby business, "Cutesy Cakes by Tina", where she makes custom cakes and desserts.
