Gerstell Alumna on the Front Lines of Covid-19

Alumna Molly Blake, Class of 2016, recently shared what it was like to enter the front lines of the medical field in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in an article recently written by Yahoo Sports. As the only Women’s Lacrosse player at Liberty University studying nursing, Molly was faced with her senior lacrosse season being canceled. Molly made the difficult decision to forego her senior lacrosse season to serve others during this unprecedented time.

Molly currently works at the neurotrauma pediatric ICU at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, an epicenter for COVID-19. When asked about the transition from being an athlete to being a nurse, Molly had this to say, “Every day everything is changing, so it’s about communication and keeping informed. That’s where being an athlete really helped me. You learn to adapt in stressful situations. It teaches you to stay on your toes. That's made the transition easier. It’s kind of like going into work, being a nurse is like this is game day. I have to give 100 percent in everything I do.”
