In alliance with our philosophy that parent involvement is vital to our students' successful development, attendance at this parent forum is required for current Gerstell Lower School parents.
Children naturally can become nervous about starting a new school year! Nervousness frequently dissipates as children adjust to novel routines and changes in grade-level demands and teachers.Once that adjustment occurs, children aremore available to focus on their academic growth and leadership development. In the midst of these transitions, it can be challenging to determine if worries are developmentally appropriate. Our Lower School Parent Forum this fall will provide an opportunity to hear from a child development expert.
On November 7th, please join us in the Wilson Room at 7:00 pm to learn how to identify anxiety, parenting tips, and strategies to help your child minimize the impact of anxiety. Child and adolescent psychiatrist and past Gerstell parent, Dr. Ayanna Cooke-Chen, of Children First MD, LLC, will present “Anxiety: What It Is and What to Do” with our Lower School parents and faculty. This Lower School Parent Forum is for adults only. Please mark your calendars so as not to miss this important event. Parents of children ages 4-10 who do not attend Gerstell Academy are also welcome this evening.
