Administration/Staff

Position Title: Director of Development and Alumni Relations

Gerstell Academy has an immediate opening for a Director of Development and Alumni Relations.

The Director of Development and Alumni Relations will develop and oversee the Alumni and Development functions for Gerstell Academy. Position is a 12-month position and reports to the President and the Board of Trustees.

This position is responsible for all aspects of fundraising for Gerstell Academy. S/he will create an Annual Fund plan, including the case for support, schedule, and implementation to ensure the continued growth and increased participation from all constituent groups. The Director of Development and Alumni Relations will manage all aspects of the annual giving program, including personal solicitations, as well as telephone, electronic and mailed appeals. This person will manage the Alumni Relations function, including managing the contact information database and planning alumni events to ensure the continued connection between Gerstell Academy and the alumni.

This team member should appreciate Gerstell Academy's mission, strive to live Gerstell's Principles and Attributes and embrace the Gerstell Leadership Model. This person must possess the ability, experience, demeanor and talent to successfully work with alumni, students, colleagues, parents, trustees, parents of alumni, and other members of the Gerstell community.

Position Requirements

  • Preference for a Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year experience in fundraising, preferably annual giving.
  • Preference to fundraising for an independent school.
  • Excellence in both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Appreciation of Gerstell's mission, Principles and Attributes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities

A bus driver for Gerstell Academy must have good communication skills, be able to work effectively as a team member and with students of all ages, and adhere to the Leadership Principles, Attributes and policies of the school. The driver must be able to complete vehicle pre and post trip inspections, comply with all the DOT and MVA standards that apply, including a criminal background check, random Drug and Alcohol Testing, Medical examination/certification, and routine Driving Record background checks.

Furthermore, the driver must follow all safety policies and emergency procedures, including an ability to safely adhere to all route schedules; must be able to communicate schedule changes weeks in advance and be flexible during on duty periods to cover transportation requests.

Additional Requirements:
Submit to Driver Monitoring Program.
Participate in weekly transportation safety and staff meetings.
Supervise students after lower school dismissal (30min)
Positive, flexible attitude, willing to jump in and help where needed.
Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Transportation, or President of the School.

Preferred Skills:
Three years professional driving experience (buses or 15 passenger vans) preferred; will train to Commercial Driver's License standards with School Bus, Air Brakes, and Passenger endorsements.

Additional Notes:
Set Schedule: Weekdays (School Days) 5:45am-8:15am & 3:00pm-6:00pm
Flexibility: Field Trips and Athletic Events vary, but will include morning and evening routes and the occasional Saturday; Back-up availability to cover absences for the morning route 5:45am-8:15am.
