Gerstell Academy senior and current student body president, Antonio Holland has known since middle school that he wanted to join a military service academy or attend college via the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. This desire to push himself to his limits and serve our country certainly comes as no surprise to Gerstell teachers and classmates who have known Antonio since he became a Falcon way back in the second grade.
The ROTC is a training program for college students who commit to serve in the United States military after graduation. Antonio has recently been awarded a full ROTC scholarship to use at his choice of college or university. He has also been awarded a congressional nomination for the United States Military Academy. To qualify for this, Antonio has demonstrated comprehensive academic preparation; leadership in athletics and extracurricular activities; earned qualifying standardized test scores; passed medical and physical aptitude examinations; and interviewed with a panel via Congressman Andrew Harris' Service Academy Nomination Board.
To date, Antonio has been accepted at Texas A&M University, Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, and Norwich University. Antonio has also applied to the United States Naval Academy and to the United States Coast Guard. Congratulations to Antonio for all his achievements!
