Upper School Leadership Instructor Receives Veteran of the Year Award
On November 11, 2019, Mr. Bruce Ryan, Upper School Leadership Instructor, was the recipient of Gerstell Academy's first Veteran of the Year Award. Mr. Ryan received this award during Gerstell Academy's Annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Mr. Ryan served in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1970. He completed a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam Campaign and flew multiple missions out of Thailand. Mr. Ryan earned the Air Medal for his single acts of heroism of meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. He earned the Wartime Service Medal, Small California 1967, and the Service Award for reorganizing the base Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Norton AFB 1967. Prior to his honorable discharge and retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Ryan had risen to the rank of Sergeant. After serving in the military, Mr. Ryan was a business leader in the field of construction management and business consulting. He worked as a part-time college instructor and joined Gerstell Academy in 2017.
Mr. Ryan was also recognized this week for his contributions and military service at the 2019 Business Advocates for Veterans luncheon. We thank Mr. Ryan for his service to our country and his endless contributions to our school community.
