Nine Gerstell students and two chaperones traveled to Marine Lab in Key Largo, Florida June 17-21 for a hands-on experience with Marine Biology. They participated in educational sessions on marine ecology, laboratory investigations, and citizen-science participation. The students spent substantial time riding boats and snorkeling among the beautiful Atlantic coral reefs.
“It completely exceeded my expectations and was a great opportunity," said Brenna Bruffey ‘21. "I experienced new things and learned a lot.”
The group included instructors Ms. Stephanie Joyner, Ms. Laura Robusto and students from each Upper School grade level: Class of 2019 - Tyra Echevarria, Khadija Shah, Hailey Thomas; Class of 2020 - Brendan Dillon; Class of 2021 - Suzie Akim-Shittu, Brenna Bruffey, Chris Day; and Class of 2022 - Logan Ader, Hanna Spicknall.
The field trip was a great success. The Upper School anticipates the next Science trip to take place in 2021.
