Gerstell Academy's Motto – Leadership, Honor, Courage
The Gerstell Motto is "Leadership, Honor, Courage. " Each term means something very specific to members of the Gerstell family. The dictionary definition of leadership is "the capacity or ability to lead or guide others. Gerstell Academy defines leadership as "the art of positively influencing others to unite in a common direction and guide them to improve themselves and their community.”
Honor – at Gerstell is doing the right thing when no one is looking regardless of consequences. Students are taught what honor is and how to live honorably by acting in accordance with the Gerstell Principles. Honor is integrated into the curriculum and daily life.
Courage – at Gerstell is the ability to act in the face of fear. Not to be fearless, but to learn how to demonstrate both physical and moral courage in the face of adversity. Our goal is to develop our students to be morally courageous, to do the right thing regardless of the pressure put on them.
Leaders encompass many attributes; among these are; the ability to listen, express appreciation, set the example, be resourceful as well as the ability to persevere through challenges. Leaders have a vision and dedication to service and understanding of self and others. By integrating leadership education into our core curriculum and into student life, we encourage our students to grow and embrace life's opportunities with vigor.
