Gerstell Academy A Co-Educational Independent College Preparatory Day School
Lower School Students

Middle School

Welcome to the Gerstell Academy Middle School where we build on the foundation established in the Lower School and focus these critical developmental years on maximizing each student’s potential to become a leader. The leadership development program is infused in a challenging college preparatory curriculum that that builds each student into a critical thinker with a solid base of fundamental knowledge. We work to foster a life-long love of learning, and developing an attitude of life-long fitness in each student.

Our Gerstell Academy Motto, Principles and Attributes define the values that the Gerstell community lives by and serve as each student’s leadership foundation. These values permeate every class and activity in the Middle School and are continually reinforced. On top of this foundation we educate and develop specific leadership skills, preparing each to compete in the real world.

At Gerstell we define leadership as: “The art of positively influencing others to unite in a common direction and guide them to improve themselves and their community.” The middle school students and faculty endeavor to fully understand and put the definition into action. Opportunities are constantly sought to challenge and test students new found knowledge and skills.

Manners, social skills, public speaking, knowledge of the world’s major religious cultures, understanding why and how the United States became a world leader, and understanding how our actions affect the environment are a sampling of the specific leadership areas our students study that set them apart from their peers. We are developing poised, confident, knowledgeable, and physically fit students who seek responsibility and aim to make a positive difference in their community.

We are excited to continue our growth as we matriculate promising students into our Middle School program. Gerstell Academy will continue to grow as we add one grade each year. We will open the Upper School with the 9th grade in academic year 2008-09 and graduate our first 12th grade class in 2012.
