Lower School – Music
Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Five are introduced to reading music, composing songs and studying all aspects of music history. Gerstell students learn to value a variety of music styles from blues and jazz to classical and folk. Homeroom themes and leadership skills and characteristics are integrated in to the music curriculum. The class is brought to life through costumes, dance, and performance.
Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade enjoy a "Musikgarten" curriculum which encourages movement, rhythm, and song. In addition to twice-weekly classes, students participate in Music for assemblies, Grandparent's Day, Leadership Circles, Parent's Day, The Winter Program, as well as many other special occasions throughout the year.
Students in Grades Three through Five take Music classes twice weekly, and also learn the Gerstell Portrait Leaders who impacted the world of Music.
Private voice and piano lessons are available as well as opportunities to play an instrument in our Ensemble program.
