Lower School - Kindergarten
The primary goal of our Kindergarten program at Gerstell Academy is to promote children's enjoyment of the school experience while nurturing their intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth. Encouraging independence within a framework of well-defined routines, teachers urge children to explore, experiment, question and discover. Thematic learning experiences focusing on process more than product include imaginary play, writing, listening, speaking, math, science, construction, art, cooking, music and physical education. Leadership circle, assemblies, the Reading Buddy Program, and special events bring our youngest students together with older children.
Students in Kindergarten memorize the Gerstell Principles and Attributes as they demonstrate their new- found knowledge in weekly Leadership Circles.
Kindergarten students gain self-awareness and confidence as they teach their classmates about the "Think Bag" and other projects.
