Physical Training at Gerstell is a comprehensive term used to communicate the importance of overall physical fitness for life for the entire Gerstell community. Our students are given opportunities to compete both on and off the field, and physical training informs both our Physical Education program as well as our Athletics Program.
Participation in middle school physical education/athletics is required to facilitate children’s growth while emphasizing, skill building, understanding rules of the game, and participation over competition. Participation in physical education and athletics is a place where children will have fun learning.
Our student-athletes will be encouraged to prticipate on athletic teams to help build an understanding of healthy competition. Competition will be stressed, but will be secondary to teamwork, participation, effort, and superior sportsmanship.
Everyone associated with Gerstell Academy athletics is required to exhibit superior sportsmanship at all times. Student-athletes are to show an appreciation for the opportunity and the ability to compete athletically. They are to demonstrate teamwork and show respect for their opponents, officials, and the game.
Athletics are an extension of the academic classroom. Family support is essential and encouraged to aid in the growth of each child emotionally, physically, and athletically.
INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC TEAMS
Gerstell Academy offers soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. If numbers allow, both a boy’s and girl’s team will compete in lacrosse. Other sports will be added as the number of students increases.
