Athletics
The mission of the Gerstell Academy Athletic Department is to provide an athletic experience that reflects the Gerstell Motto, Leadership, Honor, Courage, and the Gerstell Principles and Leadership Attributes. Gerstell Academy athletics emphasizes life-long fitness and teamwork to instill wellness and physical conditioning to be an inherent part of a healthy lifestyle. Teamwork is stressed in learning critical aspects of leadership, setting and achieving goals, striving for improvement, and an appreciation of winning and losing as a team. The program provides an environment for student-athletes to have the opportunity to reach their full fitness and athletic potential.
Gerstell Academy athletics provide the opportunity for all students to participate and thrive in the classroom and on the playing field. Our student-athletes, coaches and parents are required to exhibit superior sportsmanship and behavior consistent with the Gerstell Motto and Principles.
Student-athletes in the middle school currently have the opportunity to compete on interscholastic athletic teams in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. These teams compete against other local, independent schools in and around the area. Additional sports will be added as numbers allow.
Student-athletes in the upper school will compete against other local, independent schools in three foundational sports: basketball, lacrosse, and soccer. It is our intention to be admitted as a full member of the MIAA and IAAM conferences for all sports prior to the 2010-2011 school year.
