Gerstell Academy A Co-Educational Independent College Preparatory Day School
Lower School Students

Welcome to the Gerstell Academy’s Parents’ Association!

As a parent or guardian of a Gerstell Academy student, you are automatically a member of the Parents’ Association. The purpose of this organization is to support the school and its mission of promoting good will among the Gerstell community and the general public through volunteerism.

With the school growing at a rapid pace, more parents are also needed to support the variety of activities and events that benefit Gerstell students. The Association has four specific sub-committees that require the assistance of parents:

Public Relations and Special Events – Parents on this committee will assist in events such as Open Houses for Admissions, support for The Thanksgiving Pie Run in November, and the May Field Day Picnic. Other equally important responsibilities include the seasonal decorations of the school’s main entrances and hallways and supplying refreshments for special school occasions.

Parent Support — Parents are needed to support the faculty by serving as lunch and library helpers and to participate in the emergency phone tree for middle and upper schools.

Outreach Projects – Through Hands and Hearts, parents and children are involved in benevolent and humanitarian causes for those people in need. Parents on this sub-committee would be asked to continue this course of philanthropic programs. Past projects include: collecting coats for the homeless; providing personalized goodie bags for soldiers in Iraq, and making bagged lunches for the local food bank Within the Academy community, families support each other through the Uniform Swap Shop.

Fundraising Projects - Under this committee, parents participate in a variety of fundraising events which benefit the students and the campus. Some of those events include: the Spring Basket Raffle, Scholastic Book orders, the Lower and Middle School Book Fairs, Innisbrook Gift Wrapping Drive and the newly added Great Lakes Scrip Fundraiser.

We ask that you to become active in the Association’s events that will benefit our students, the school and our community by volunteering for any of these categories. There are many gifted and creative parents and guardians whose expertise would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Give as much time as you can. Join us for our students’ sake.
