The Gerstell Academy faculty and staff work cooperatively to serve as role models for the entire school community. All functions of school operation provide learning opportunities for Gerstell Academy students. Faculty and staff will mentor, teach, and challenge Gerstell Academy students to grow into roles of greater responsibility. The faculty and staff fulfill their responsibility by articulating and implementing the mission and philosophy of the school on a daily basis.

Athletics

Assistant Athletic Director

Gerstell Academy is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for the 2017-18 academic year with leadership experience. This full-time position includes providing leadership support to the Athletic Department and selected teaching responsibilities in Middle School and Upper School. Duties will include teaching the Mission, Motto, Principles and Attributes, classroom instruction, committee work, curriculum mapping, serving as a student advisor, and other duties as assigned or needed to develop school programs. Prior administrative and teaching experience is strongly preferred. The desired candidate will be able to use Athletics and classroom instruction as a vehicle to teach leadership education and character development.

Instrumental Music Director

Gerstell Academy is seeking an Instrumental Director for the 2017-18 academic year with leadership experience and capable of teaching Middle School and Upper School Instrumental Music Programs. Duties will include teaching the Mission, Motto, Principles and Attributes, teaching Instrumental Music courses, committee work, curriculum mapping, serving as a student advisor, and other duties as assigned or needed to develop school programs. Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education is required. The desired candidate will be able to teach Instrumental Music as a vehicle to teach leadership education and character development.

Spanish Instructor

Gerstell Academy is seeking a Spanish teacher with leadership experience for the 2017-2018 academic year. Gerstell Academy is a private, co-educational, non-sectarian, college preparatory leadership school based on the value system defined by the Gerstell Academy Mission, Motto, Principles and Attributes. Gerstell Academy has established a Spanish program that begins in the Lower School with the goal of having each student proficient at the intermediate-mid level or higher by grade twelve. The desired candidate will be able to teach Spanish as an academic course and as a vehicle to teach leadership education and character development. This full-time position includes the possibility of teaching students in grades 6-12. Duties include teaching Spanish courses, along with the Mission, Motto, Principles and Attributes, serving on faculty committees, creating curriculum maps, serving as a student advisor, and performing other duties as assigned to develop the Middle School and Upper School programs. Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities

A bus driver for Gerstell Academy must have good communication skills, be able to work effectively as a team member and with students of all ages, and adhere to the Leadership principles and policies of the school. The driver must be able to complete vehicle pre and post trip inspections, comply with all the DOT and MVA standards that apply, including a criminal background check, random Drug and Alcohol Testing, Medical examination/certification, and routine Driving Record background checks.

Furthermore, the driver must follow all safety policies and emergency procedures, including an ability to safely adhere to all route schedules; must be able to communicate schedule changes weeks in advance and be flexible during on duty periods to cover transportation requests.

Additional Requirements:
Submit to Driver Monitoring Program.
Participate in weekly transportation safety and staff meetings.
Supervise students after lower school dismissal (30min)
Positive, flexible attitude, willing to jump in and help where needed.
Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Transportation, or President of the School.

Preferred Skills:
Three years professional driving experience (buses or 15 passenger vans) preferred; will train to Commercial Driver's License standards with School Bus, Air Brakes, and Passenger endorsements.

Additional Notes:
Set Schedule: Weekdays (School Days) 2:45pm-5:00pm
Flexibility: Field Trips and Athletic Events vary, but can include morning or evening routes and the occasional Saturday; Back-up availability to cover absences for the morning route 5:45am-8:30am.
