The Gerstell Academy faculty and staff work cooperatively to serve as role models for the entire school community. All functions of school operation provide learning opportunities for Gerstell Academy students. Faculty and staff will mentor, teach, and challenge Gerstell Academy students to grow into roles of greater responsibility. The faculty and staff fulfill their responsibility by articulating and implementing the mission and philosophy of the school on a daily basis.

Athletics

Athletic Director

Gerstell Academy is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Director. This full-time position serves as a leader of the athletic and physical education departments from grades Pre-K through 12th with a starting date of July 1, 2017. Experience preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Manage, evaluate and supervise the operation and functioning of all interscholastic Athletic and Physical Education programs

This includes athletic structure, professional development and discipline systems based on the Leadership Principles and Attributes of the school

 Coordinate and schedule all athletic events involving athletic facilities

 Continue to develop the Athletic and Physical Education curriculum

 Supervise and evaluate all coaching staff and Athletic and Physical Education personnel

 Establish and promote a high standard and expectation for all students, athletes and staff

 Establish a positive on-going and interactive working relationship with all members of the school community

 Maintain excellent communication skills

 Possess a high level of administrative and organizational skills

 Demonstrate the importance of learning, knowing, understanding and applying the Gerstell Academy Leadership Model and the school Mission

 Manage all aspects of the Athletic and Physical Education budget

 Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the President of the school

Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities

A bus driver for Gerstell Academy must have good communication skills, be able to work effectively as a team member and with students of all ages, and adhere to the Leadership principles and policies of the school. The driver must be able to complete vehicle pre and post trip inspections, comply with all the DOT and MVA standards that apply, including a criminal background check, random Drug and Alcohol Testing, Medical examination/certification, and routine Driving Record background checks.

Furthermore, the driver must follow all safety policies and emergency procedures, including an ability to safely adhere to all route schedules; must be able to communicate schedule changes weeks in advance and be flexible during on duty periods to cover transportation requests.

Additional Requirements:
Submit to Driver Monitoring Program.
Participate in weekly transportation safety and staff meetings.
Supervise students after lower school dismissal (30min)
Positive, flexible attitude, willing to jump in and help where needed.
Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Transportation, or President of the School.

Preferred Skills:
Three years professional driving experience (buses or 15 passenger vans) preferred; will train to Commercial Driver's License standards with School Bus, Air Brakes, and Passenger endorsements.

Additional Notes:
Set Schedule: Weekdays (School Days) 2:45pm-5:00pm
Flexibility: Field Trips and Athletic Events vary, but can include morning or evening routes and the occasional Saturday; Back-up availability to cover absences for the morning route 5:45am-8:30am.
