Margaret Secoda
Mrs. Secoda is the Head Lower School for Gerstell Academy. She comes to us with 32 years of combined teaching and administrative experience in the academic arena.
She attended Holy Family University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Elementary Education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Science Education from Arcadia University where she graduated cum laude. Additionally, Mrs. Secoda is a Doctoral Candidate at Immaculata University where she is studying Educational Leadership. She will defend her dissertation by December of 2007, and plans to receive her Doctorate of Philosophy shortly thereafter.
Until June of 2006, Mrs. Secoda served as an elementary school principal for a K-8 Catholic school in Pennsylvania. She also taught at Holy Family University as an Adjunct Professor. Mrs. Secoda was recently nominated for the NCEA Dr. Robert A. Kealey Award for Distinguished Principal (Archdiocese of Philadelphia) in 2005. Twice she was elected Coordinator for District Eight Principals Leadership Team where she also served as past secretary. She was awarded the Immaculata Graduate Award for 2004, and served as a convention delegate for the 2004 NCEA education convention.
She has been married for 38 years, and together with her husband, has raised six children who are well educated, productive citizens. She and her husband are proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren. They currently reside in Carroll County.
