Eric Byrd

Eric Byrd serves Gerstell Academy as Music Leader for all grades.

Mr. Byrd, a 1993 Graduate of Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, received his Masters in Music degree from Morgan State University in 2001.

An accomplished pianist, he has toured the world as leader of The Eric Byrd Trio, a jazz piano group. In 2000-01, The Eric Byrd Trio was named Jazz Ambassadors by the U.S. State Department and the Washington, DC Kennedy Center, following in the footsteps of Louis Armstrong and Dr. Billy Taylor. As a sideman or leader, he has appeared on 10 internationally released recordings.

In addition, Mr. Byrd has been a Professor of Music at McDaniel College since 1994.

Mr. Byrd, his wife Leslie, and their two sons reside in Carroll County.
