Eric Byrd

Eric Byrd serves Gerstell Academy as Music Leader for the Lower and Middle schools.

Mr. Byrd, a 1993 Graduate of Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, received his Masters in Music degree from Morgan State University in 2001.

An accomplished pianist, he has toured the world as leader of The Eric Byrd Trio, a jazz piano group. In 2000 and 2001, The Eric Byrd Trio was named Jazz Ambassadors by the U.S. State Department and the Washington, DC Kennedy Center, following in the footsteps of Louis Armstrong and Dr. Billy Taylor. As a sideman or leader, he has appeared on 10 internationally released recordings.

In addition, Mr. Byrd has served as Professor of Music at McDaniel College since 1994.

Mr. Byrd and his family reside in Carroll County.
