Gerstell Academy's Summer Reading Program

OVERVIEW

We hope you are excited about beginning your Summer Reading Program!

In an effort to enhance the learning experience and transition process of students at Gerstell Academy, the Library, in partnership with each school at Gerstell, has continued to implement a summer reading program as part of the schools leadership attribute experience. The Summer Reading Program is designed to introduce students to the intellectual and leadership experiences in literature found in everyday experiences. Encouraged of all students from grade two and beyond, the program involves reading assigned books over the summer break, then participating in discussions with faculty and staff members when students return in September.

Goals of the Summer Reading Program are – to stimulate discussion and critical thinking around a common book’s themes, to reinforce leadership attributes at Gerstell, to enhance a sense of community between students, faculty, and staff, and to provide a common experience for incoming and returning students.

To understand what the reading requirements are, choose the school where your student will be attending in September, then select the link to the appropriate grade they will be entering.
