Gerstell Academy's Middle School Summer Reading Program
.
INTRODUCTION
.
We hope you are excited about beginning your Summer Reading Program!
.
You may review your summer reading selections by grade and subject two ways: by choosing from the links below by grade or by visiting the MBS Direct for Gerstell web site. You may purchase your books through MBS Direct or obtain them from your local bookstore, local library, or at our Gerstell Academy Middle School library where some of the listed books are available for a two-week loan period.
.
Over the summer, students are required to read three books from a selected list divided into the following four academic areas:
Leadership and History
Science and Math
Art and Music
Spanish and English
Students are to select one book from three of these paired areas. The fourth reading will be the Gerstell Academy Book of Knowledge, which will be sent to you over the summer no later than August. For those accepting the Leadership Challenge you will select a fifth book from the paired academic area not already chosen.
.
Please choose books that you have not already read. Students may read additional books for extra-credit dependent on their interests. Blank copies of your book reports are provided in the links above. Hard copies of the book report forms are also available in the Middle School mailbox outside the Middle School office. Please complete one book report form for each book that you read. Teachers will use these forms to determine your summer reading grade, which will be weighed as a test or quiz grade at the discretion of the teacher.
