Summer is a wonderful time of the year to encourage and nurture the reading habit
even though your child is out of the classroom and involved in fun summertime activities like swimming,
camping, and baseball. Your child’s education does not
end when school is let out for the summer, and reading is a terrific way to continue the
learning process.
Goals of the Summer Reading Program are – to stimulate discussion and critical thinking around a common book’s themes, to reinforce leadership attributes at Gerstell, to enhance a sense of community between students, faculty, and staff, and to provide a common experience for incoming and returning students.
The following links provide detailed information by grade as to what is expected of your child by the start of the next academic year.
